Mission Statement

SWFL Vegfest will showcase the benefits of a plant-based lifestyle for our health, compassion for animals and protecting our planet.

There's no greater gift you can give to your own health than a plant-based diet.

Properly administered whole-food plant-based diets can prevent, stop, and reverse disease, with life-changing results. In fact, such specific diets are now actually being prescribed as medicine here in SWFL. It’s exciting that SWFL is the worldwide epicenter of this new physician use of food as medicine movement! Join us at our SWFL Veg Fest & learn the latest from our vendors, speakers & chefs. This historic paradigm shifting of our healthcare system is happening right here in our local community!

It’s long been known that true healthcare actually consists of the food a person chooses to eat.

“Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.”
– Hippocrates

“The doctor of the future will give no medicine, but will interest her or his patients in the care of the human frame, in a proper diet, and in the cause and prevention of disease.”
– Thomas A. Edison, our most famous SWFL resident

Most folks have unfortunately not followed this wise advice.

“Death in America is largely a foodborne illness.”
– Dr. Michael Greger

However recently SWFL has become a hotbed for progressive medical thought that would make Thomas Edison very happy.

“The 15 leading reasons Americans die… A plant based diet can help prevent nearly all of them.”
– Dr. Michael Greger

There’s more groundbreaking food as medicine activity going on right now in SWFL than anywhere else in the world! The biggest news is that PlantPure has partnered with Lee Memorial to model innovative new treatments under the care of physicians. Right now physicians at Lee Memorial are prescribing PlantPure food to patients. Biometric testing and monitoring is being done under the care of doctors. Once enough data is collected showing the effectiveness of this treatment program, Lee Memorial will ask the health insurance companies to cover the costs. The goal of this is to create food as medicine treatment programs for healthcare providers that are both profitable and sustainable. There are even more aspects to this Lee Memorial / PlantPure partnership that will be introduced over time that will benefit our entire community. These are exciting times and we will get to witness this locally!
